A breath of fresh air
Overseas travel may be on hold for now, but there’s plenty to see and do here. Let’s take a moment to think about all the drawcards of our region…

If you are heading to Castlepoint, pack your lunch and brace yourself for jaw-dropping natural scenery: the iconic lighthouse, jagged limestone reef, golden sand beach and the imposing Castle Rock are all spellbinding and will draw you to your phone for the ultimate Instagram selfie.
Alternatively, make a beeline for the South Wairarapa coast, the Putangirua Pinnacles are some of the most amazing rock formations you will ever see. Nearby is the snazzy Cape Palliser lighthouse with its red and white stripes. Also, at the cape is the largest seal colony in the North Island and the quirky fishing village of Ngawi, where tractors line up on the beach to pull the boats out as there is no wharf here.
For those looking for a bush experience there are numerous options, all a short drive from Wairarapa towns. Among the most popular are tracks starting from Mt Holdsworth, but Fensham Reserve, (near Carterton), and Rewanui Forest Reserve (east of Masterton) are great options.
