One of the best things about Martinborough Wine Village – New Zealand’s only wine village – is that you can explore the vineyards on foot. Hosted by Martinborough Wine Merchants, Martinborough Wine Walks delivers a fun and informative behind-the-scenes, wine-tasting experience like no other, allowing you to get close to those most involved in the region’s vibrant wine scene.

Walk, talk and taste your way through a hand-picked selection of specialist wine and beverage producers, exploring wineries, sometimes craft beer and spirit producers, that are not open to the public. Tour-goers hear personal stories and sample wines directly from the barrel, with the people who made them. All walks include a luscious, platter-style lunch and are fully hosted by passionate, experienced locals who eat, drink and sleep wine.

Groups can choose the theme of their experience. As an authentic, one-on-one with wine producers, no two tours are exactly the same:

Town and Around: behind (and between) the scenes, this popular tour visits wine producers in their vineyards, wineries and barrel rooms. If tour-goers are tight for time, this walk is bookable as a half-day option.

The Terrace Tour: traversing back-to-back vineyards, this walk steps into New Zealand winemaking history. Become familiar with Martinborough’s first wine producers – and the new wave of young winemakers making their mark.

For those wanting more of a walk with their wine, the Te Muna Magic Tour heads back and beyond the village to discover Martinborough’s most recent vineyard development, where some of New Zealand’s most iconic producers are situated.
